How did the concept of Merry Mouse come about? As Pat sat in church each week, she thought about the importance of all the rituals we practice as we worship the Lord. And she wondered how much the children understood.
She decided to write her thoughts in a children’s story form. Going to church and learning about Jesus should be fun. So what’s better than a little Merry Mouse, happy and fun with a twinkle in his eyes—just like our children: happy, fun, a twinkle in their eyes, and eager to learn.
Pat then showed her concept—which she believes God inspired her to write—to her Pastor John. He gave her the opportunity to write a monthly article for the church newsletter.
The children, nor the adults, knew who wrote Merry Mouse!
She would hear comments how their whole family couldn't wait for the next Merry Mouse adventure! One little boy loved snakes and he would bring a plastic one to church. Merry Mouse wrote about being scared of the snake until he found out it was plastic and mentioned the little boy's name in his writing. The grandmother and grandson, alike thoroughly enjoyed the story because Merry Mouse knew him by name.
